How to Care for Vermeil
·
Reflet Studio
A practical care guide for preserving the depth, color, and surface of gold vermeil pieces.
Gold vermeil is made for wear, but it rewards a little care. Remove pieces before swimming, bathing, or applying perfume and lotion. Moisture and alcohol can dull the surface over time, especially on chains and rings that touch the skin most often.
After wearing, wipe each piece with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so harder stones or clasps do not rub against the finish. Avoid polishing creams; they are usually too abrasive for a layered gold surface.
Restoring the glow
If a piece begins to look muted, clean it gently with a dry microfiber cloth and let it rest outside the bathroom. The goal is not to keep it looking untouched, but to preserve the depth of the gold as it becomes part of daily life.
